Ganuk, the son of Inukshuk, was born in captivity on November 30, 2009 in Québec, with his twin sister Taiga. He moved to the Habitat in 2012.
While the bears’ weights fluctuate seasonally, Ganuk is usually our heaviest bear at between 1,000 and 1,100lbs (450 to 500kg).
Ganuk tends to lumber along at his own pace, and he avoids being outside when it’s raining. Besides inclement weather and certain vegetables, Ganuk seems to tolerate just about everything.
Watch Ganuk live on our webcams – best viewing times 8am-5pm – Ganuk can usually be found in our Arctic or Baffin enclosures.
