According to MyCochrane now “Northeastern Ontario could be closer to seeing the restoration of rail passenger service between Cochrane and Toronto. We’re at the final stages of a real comprehensive business plan for passenger rail,” President and CEO of Ontario Northland Railway Corina Moore stated. “We have been working very closely and dedicating resources both with us and Metrolinx to put together a very detailed plan on what that service will look like.”
This is great news for the community of Cochrane and for the Polar Bear Habitat!
One of the items the financial analysis pointed to was that tourism took a significant hit when passenger rail service was discontinued between Toronto and Cochrane. If it there is a plan to bring it back, there is even more hope!
Thank you to the hardworking people at Ontario Northland and in communities around Northern Ontario for this incredible development!
